TOURS

Escuela Mexicana offers you some unforgettable tours to destinations around Guanajuato as well as to other destinations in Mexico. All trips will be weekend excursions. You can make a reservation for these trips via the internet although we can not guarantee that a special trip will be held during a given weekend since we need a minimum of 4 people for each journey. However, when somebody is interested in a certain weekend excursion, we will offer the same trip to other students who will study during the same period. The school has a mini van to make these trips a personnel experience.

Please note! There is a max. of 6 people that can join each trip. The price of the trips does not include entrance food or hotels. For 2 day weekend trips we will make a reservation for a hotel of the category that you prefer.

Hot Springs, Atotonilco and San Miguel - 1 day -

Enjoy the beautiful hot springs of “La Gruta” just outside of San Miguel. Of the plentitude of hot springs in the area, these are the most beautiful ones. After relaxing there for about 2 hours, we will go to Atotonilco, an 18th century monastery. So close and still so far away from the “Americanized” San Miguel, you can experience the other Mexico. In the afternoon, we go to San Miguel and will visit its famous crafts market as well as walk through some of its most beautiful areas. After a nice dinner, we will head back to Guanajuato.

The trip starts at about 10 a.m and we will be back in Guanajuato by 8 p.m
Cost: USD 22, Entrance Fee for the Hot Spring USD 5

San Miguel de Allende and Dolores Hidalgo- 1 day –

Both cities played an important role in Mexico´s independence movement. Today, they are beautiful cities, full of skillful artisans and the typical Mexican-Colonial architecture. We will cross the Sierra of Santa Rosa (1500 ft. higher than Guanajuato) in the morning and head to Dolores Hidalgo where we visit the downtown area with the church that became famous for the “Grito de Independencia”. Later on, we head towards San Miguel and will visit its famous crafts market as well as walk through some of its most beautiful areas. After a nice dinner, we will head back to Guanajuato.

The trip starts at about 10 a.m and we will be back in Guanajuato by 8 p.m
Cost: USD 22

Teotihuacan – 1 day –

There isn´t much to say about this trip. Teotihuacan is known as the place of the biggest, highest and certainly most imposing native Mexican ruins. We will leave at 7 a.m and one way is about 4 hours which will go by fast since you will enjoy the changing countryside. We will be back in Guanjuato around 9 p.m

Cost: USD 80, includes Entrance Fee to Teotihuacan

Teotihuacan and Mexico City – 2 days –

Teotihuacan is known as the place of the biggest, highest and certainly most imposing native Mexican ruins. We will leave at 7 a.m and one way is about 4 hours which will go by fast since you will enjoy the changing countryside. After having spent about 4 hours at the pyramids, we will head towards Mexico City and stay at a hotel close to the Zocalo. (Decent hotels start from USD 20 for two people and for USD 50, a very nice one is available) In the evening, we will have dinner at the Hotel Majestic which is famous for its rooftop terrace, overlooking the Zocalo. On Sunday morning you will have time to visit the Templo Major, visit the world famous “Museo de Antropologia” or go to the Palacio de Bellas Artes to look at Diego Riviera´s murals or watch the “Ballet de Folklorico” At 1 p.m. we will drive to Coyoacan and visit Frida Kahlo´s birthplace. About 5 p.m. we will go back to Guanajuato.

Patzcuaro – 2 days -

Patzcuaro, the colonial city close to Lake Patzcuaro makes a perfect weekend trip from Guanajuato. We leave at 8 a.m and visit some rather unimportant ruins which, however, have a beautiful view over Lake Patzcuaro. Then we had to the city and spend the afternoon and evening enjoying its colonial architecture and the variety of local crafts.

On Sunday, we take the boat to two of the islands which made Lake Patzcuaro famous. The contrast couldn´t be stronger since Janitzio has everything to attract or chase away tourists. Yuñuen is completely different, silent and laid back. We will be back in Guanajuato in the early evening.

Cost: USD 80 Includes boat fare and Entrance Fee for ruin site
